Social Media Links - Nov. 19

I collect these links each week using my Tumblr site. Most of the links are from those I follow at Twitter. With that, I present you...

* Social Media by the Numbers. Yeah. More metrics measuring the spread of social media's use. It's a sincere yeah. The more social media's use is quantified with metrics meaningful to decision-makers (aka the ones who write the checks to social media consultants...) the faster those same businesses will embrace social media and the consultants delivering its power.

All these measurements with all these metrics is having an impact:

According to initial findings from the Routes to Revenue survey for the CMO Council’s Precision Promotion campaign, 60% of marketing executives surveyed indicated that more personalized, relevant and precise messaging is the top strategy they plan to deploy to achieve greater revenue and profitability.

Customers want to engage...

Article at CMO Council. Link from...I didn't note it. (As I said last week, I'm getting better at noting who shared the link.)

* 50 Signs You Twitter Too Much ~ THE MBTI BLOG. Yes. Social media's embrace is consuming...for some. Ok, for most. Still it speaks to the speed with which social media's being embraced when you have a list of 50 signs you twitter too much when twitter's been in existence for what...2 years?

Here's my favorite (or most disturbing)

36.  You've twittered through the birth of your child (I've seen this one happen)

Link from Tojosan. Article by Breanne Potter at MBTI Blog

* 35+ Social Media Tools That Make Life Easier Wow. I never knew. Flock? Yumeo. Ping...Look how many are tools for Twitter. See above.

From BillVick.  Article at FreeLance Folder

* Is LinkedIn a Big Waste of Time?  My hats off to LinkedIn for making some bold changes, adding features and resources, to make it ...great big great use of time. This article shares the author's story with one of those features.

Article by Deborah Chaddock Brown at Websites People Read. I discovered her blog when she left a comment on an earlier post.

* Influence and Popularity in Social Media. Excellent article. It gives a deeper understanding of the metrics that determine popularity vs influence with social media's impact.

Article by Gavin Heaton at My Venture Pad. I'm a member. I get their excellent newsletter (you should, too). And they share some of my blog posts.

* Does Google Send You TOO MUCH Traffic? Doncha just hate it? T-I-C aside, it's another sign of the great changes coming to digital media. The author explains why...you need to understand this paradox.

From MaineBusiness. Article by Cathy Stucker.

* Changes at Google.  Why less Google traffic may mean more...conversions for your business. See? Cathy's on to something.

Link from SmallBizTrends. Article at WebProNews.

* Five More Reasons Small Non-Profits Need Twitter . Title says it all about the spread of social media and the burning prairie of twitter's spread.

From GrantGriffiths. Article at CorporateDollar.

* Best Buy's Using Social Media. Two videos with interviews of Best Buys' CEO and employees discussing their embrace of social media. They're saying the right things. They better. They're using social media, in particular...an internal wiki.

Link from LivePath. Video hosted at  Experience Architect, from LivePath.

Death Watch. Social media's rise is, in large part, the source of the decline of traditional media. But a death watch list...? Maybe, not yet. Remember: last week I shared a post that pointed out social media and traditional media are joined at the hip. If one goes under....The article lists the traditional media that's on this death list and plans to discuss how the reports of their demise may be premature.

Shel Holtz is the author. And the link was from Shel Holtz

* Links: How to find them and share them on Twitter. Where else?

Link from ScottMaentz. Article at...wait for it...TwiTip: Twitter tips in 140 characters or more edited by Darren Rowse at ProBlogger.

And the best advice for social media's use may be that of B.L.Ochman: Pick Two and Use Them. You can read it about in my previous post titled Social Media's Use: - Pick 2 and Focus.

 That's it for this week.

Have fun. See you next week, pre-Thanksgiving!
