Jeff Cornwell at the Entrepreneurial Mind blog shares a glimmer of hope for employment.
He links to a statement from the NFIB, National Federation of Independent Business, that says:
11 percent reported unfilled job openings, unchanged from February and
a positive sign going forward. Job openings are a significant predictor
of the unemployment rate. Over the next three months, 13 percent plan
to create new jobs (up four points), and 10 percent plan workforce
reductions (down four points).
Not seasonally adjusted, job-creation plans were positive in all
industry groups except manufacturing. It looks like the service sector
may be finding its legs.
By year end, growth should be positive again, perhaps as strong as a 4
percent annual rate. Large pools of pent-up demand are forming and will
soon begin to be transformed into actual spending.
To that I say...great news!
And I also wonder where's the coverage of this news in mainstream media?
Small business and its job creation efforts is like the canary in the mine. It's an early-alert system of where the economy is and is heading. Small business generates the jobs that drive an economy out of a recession. And it looks like...small business indicators point to a short-lived recession based on a turn-around for job creation with small business.
So...pray tell. Where are the articles in mainstream media on this?
Thanks, Dr. Cornwall and NFIB for sharing this good news.
