Mark is the founder of Heart of Business, and a successful business consultant and healer, who brings an active connection with the Divine to his work. Heart of Business began life as Success by Design in 1999, an enterprise which helped entrepreneurs create marketing that felt clean, was effective, and yet was authentic and felt like them.
He has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs, small business owners, corporate managers, and non-profits in the areas of marketing, sales, employee management, business mission, and just plain taking care of yourself and your business.
Mark has run a magazine, worked as a paramedic, run a distribution business, been an activist, and worked in the non-profit arena. He has failed horribly in business, and he has succeeded beautifully, each in turn.
Bringing your heart back to your business to make it great!
Mark’s latest project is “Heart of Money Transformational Journey” class and this is significant because it is something that he has taught dozens of time, is the most spiritual, and is such an important topic in today’s economy.
Money is a business issue that we all dance around – it is a serious issue that many businesses do not confront or deal with on a daily basis. It is a stand in quality and these usually represent a deeper quality within the heart. Money sometimes acts as a substitute for emotional mishaps or voids.
People struggle with the same fundamental issues. Without a healthy relationship with money we act and react from a place of blindness, or unconsciousness. There is more fear and lack of groundedness with the relationships to money, which are not based upon any physical properties. It is an emotional need.
Macro-economically – where did we lose our heart, as a nation?
With the industrial age, there was a distancing of the people profiting from the work. When there is a distance created, it dehumanizes what happens around us. When pain and suffering comes out of our own actions, we tend to create a distance and safety, but it is here where the richness truly is. We hide from the pain. We think life will be better, but we are missing the doorway to something that can be rich and fulfilling.
It is important to open your heart to the people around you, creating the deeper connection and love. The connection with employees and customers is so important for expansion, growth, and happiness. There will always be tough decisions to make, but if you have made this connection, getting through the experience will so somewhat simpler.

We are a supremely needy nation! There is nothing for broken or wrong with us concerning this fact. It is just inherent. We are dependent on so many things for our life. We can’t manufacture the oxygen we need to breathe. We must realize we are vulnerable and open. This soon creates the connection between hearts and people. It is the source to divine and love. We must accept our neediness. It gives us a groundedness to act out of compassion and creativity.
If you are going to want to change from where you are, there first has to be a deep acceptance of where we are. If we are sick or not feeling well, there has to be an acceptance of this fact. Stand in it firmly and completely! Regain your strength and balance. Know that it is not working, but you can move forwards.
How can we shift how we are thinking about the situation?
In the 1900’s, 50% of the population was employed. It was a tradition to be employed- it is accessible.
The one thing I have seen, the key indicator of success is the willingness to ask for help. This gets at the core of all issues.
Businesses do not succeed by themselves you get there by asking and receiving help.
People lose their heart when they have a fear of failure. They care in a deep way for the employees, but also feel totally responsible that it all happens, and in taking on this responsibility, they abandon the neediness. They organizational leaders believe they are the source of everything for their staff. Make effective choices from the heart.

I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs and as I progressed through life, with my conscious study of business, versus life experience, and I realized that myparents and grandparents possessed the innate secret of the “heart” in business. They had a sense of connection with the people around them; being willing to do the right thing and hold to their integrity instead of chasing money.
You may not always be the richest, but you will be the happiest. Success comes from living through the heart and sense of connection.
There are many details and things to learn about business and structures, where you can struggle, but I feel as though you truly need the deep connection to fully and wholly succeed. He encourages his clients to look deeply for this correlation and grow with this, nourish it and many other dynamics will fall into place.
There is a great deal more to business success and daily interactions than merely operational procedures. Organizational achievement can be developed on a deeper level with caring and compassion, spreading this heart of presence throughout the entire company. The inner beauty and connection translates on a synergistic platform to the company’s internal constitution and composition, creating a strong and forthright foundation, capable of great success. You must remember that the heart is already in the business – nourish it and it will work for you.
At heart, everything is one.

A business is no different; it has its own heart in a way that helps it to thrive.
His goal:small business to rise out of love and be successful making our communities stronger. It is important to get help to become successful.
His services are geared towards some practical business issue or information. Mark’s training teaches that healing is not complete until it manifests in the physical world and his intention is to bring healing from the heart into the physical world.
Be whole. Have a happy heart and a successful business. He offers his services in love.
Mark will be sponsoring a Path to Profitability Retreat. This will be a five day retreat where the entire environment supports the learning process.
It is about creating momentum in your business, going from feast to famine, having a sense the business is carrying you forward, running under its own steam. You can realize this is a normal ebb and flow in business – not a feast or famine.
The retreat comes with an 80% guarantee, wanting people to do the work, the exercises, and apply what they are learning. The conditional guarantee is not about protecting the business owner. It helps to set the expectations to the client or customer in order for the product or service to be successful. It creates an equal relationship for each party to do their parts and to be accountable.
Three things people can do to remember their heart in business:
1. Just Stop! Put your hand over your heart and let your physical heart be the reminder of the spiritual heart. Just remember there is more here than you can see. We are a small humble people. We are needy and that is okay. Use that need for support.
; 2. Learn! Find that place in you that doesn’t know something about your business and learn it!
3. Start to ask for help! Find five instances and ask someone for help, even if you don’t really need it. Just receive it and make the burden a little lighter.

You can’t do great things. You can only do small things with great love.- Mother Theresa
