Living to fight another day. - Then
Living to learn another day. - Now
Then and Now. There's not a clear demarcation between them right now, all day. It's a process. Like William Gibson says The future is here already. It's just unevenly distributed. Or something like that.
Live to fight another day is...heroic. One...against the world. Defiant. Marlboro Man. You have this one goal. And in order to reach that goal you must be stay true to your mission...ever how long it takes.
It precludes collaboration. It's the power of push.
It risks becoming a dinosaur. Rigidity is confused with commitment. Somewhere determined/driven becomes stubborn/myopic.
Live to learn another day is squishy by comparison. It is you with the world or at least with your supporters, community.
Learning another day means you're not always The Man, Marlboro or not; and you know that.
Learning means you turn to others for their resources, knowledge and support. It's the Power of Pull.
Learning means growing. Growing means changing. Changing means letting go. Squishy. Are you not committed to your goal? Well, actually, I've learned...and my goal has changed. So has my community where we share our resources, knowledge and support with each other; one time leading and one time following.
Live to fight another day. I've done that, then. And still some today.
Live to learn another day. I'm doing that, now. More of that now, more even in the future. I think. But, I'm learning.
What do you think?
Are you living in the then and now? Fightin' and learnin'?
