Yvonne DiVita was a guest on our radio show. This was her 2nd guest appearance and like all good things in life she keeps getting better. Better for Yvonne means doing more, giving more to help more people achieve their dreams. You can listen to our conversation here.
Yvonne and her partners in BlogPaws, Caroline Golan of Romeo The Cat and Tom Collins, her partner with Scratchings and Sniffings and Windsor Media realized their common passions of pets, and their rescue and care, and social media and its power to connect were passions commonly shared by, well a huge community of people around the world.
Being the leaders they are, they led. They created the BlogPaws community, and it quickly grew into a vibrant online community of social media experts and resources who shared their social media talents along with passions for pet rescue and care.
We talked about what it takes to be successful with social media. Here's her thoughts:
The 3 components of being successful with social media are:
1. Manage Your Time. You figure out how much time you have to spend on these things.2. Have a Focus. Why are you there? Are you there just to chat? What is my purpose?
3. Meet People in Person. Regardless, regardless of how popular you are on Twitter, Facebook or your blog is... if you’re not getting out of your door you are not going to make it.
If you want to be successful with social media at this point there's no need to wander in the dark or try to create the next wheel. Just listen to the experts like Yvonne and follow their advice.

Thanks for this, Zane. I do want to stress the "social" part of business, both online and offline. Social is the thread that connects all of us. You can be social via blogs, Facebook, and twitter - but the real power comes when you put a face to that twitter handle or blog post.
Starting a friendship online is commonplace these days. Extending it to a real life experience (where your warts are likely to show), is when you take a friendship to the level of a relationship.
A relationship is deeper and more meaningful because it encompasses the past, the present, and the future. Allowing other people into your life to experience your presence as a human being (and to allow you to experience their lives as human beings) happens when you're nose-to-nose, where genuine emotion surfaces.
We all crave it and we all appreciate it.
