I announced in May, 2010, the 52 - Week Employee Recognition Plan. This is the 35th week. The lesson this week is:
• Call them before their first day. Welcome them with your message of anticipation for their addition and contribution to your organization tomorrow.
Well-begun is half done.
This simple step, rarely taken (guilty!), delivers the right impact at the right time.
Making this call not only communicates your recognition for them, but it carries the implicit recognition from everyone who waits to welcome them tomorrow.
It creates the right expectation for your new hire. Wow, they already recognize me, what i can contribute. They have prepared for my arrival. They await my arrival, perhaps. This is going to be a good situation.
The Your in your organization now includes them. Your welcome call signals they are already part of the conversation and connections and collaborations.
Mind open, heart open. Anxiety down. Anticipation up.
