I announced in May, 2010, the 52 - Week Employee Recognition Plan. This is the 36th week. The lesson this week is:
• Implement a No Face-Time Policy.
Just because you choose to have no family life should you insist they skip theirs, too?
An effective technique to build a closed-loop, echo-chamber, communication channel is to insist on face-time. If you’re there late, by god they better be, too.
And in today’s business environment, a company with communication channels of closed-loops and echo-chambers that reinforce an executive’s truisms, long on isms and short on truths, is a company whose doors will be closed soon. The sound of those doors closing will echo across the lives of those who steadfastly stayed late with their out-of-date leader.
Recognize the life of those in your organization by allowing them to live it. Recognize their life’s meaning does include their family.
Recognize their need, our need including yours, to re-charge, re-create, renew.
And that is accomplished with time to pursue and enjoy others who share their meaning, add to it.
Another, enlightened self-interest point:
Rest is the basis of activity.
It is also the basis of clarity of mind and purpose and courage to pursue their purpose. That clarity and courage translates to more results during the day, faster results, and the courage to lead the change to a sustainable business.

You can start with any week of the 52 - Week Employee Recognition Plan and make that your first week.
You can take one of those weeks and turn it into a month or commit to an accelerated pace and complete 6 of the weeks in one month.
You can create your own week of employee recognition. Share that journey here. Share it in your blog or Twitter or Facebook.
But, do something to recognize your employees! They set your brand apart as your ultimate competitive edge.
And the more you recognize their achievements, the more achievements you'll see and they'll enjoy, along with your customers and and shareholders, partners and vendors.
