Zane - a truly captivating read. So genuine... and I caught my self thinking "yeah, what he said!" as I absorbed it.

Chris is an ancient soul trapped in a "geeky, how-cool-is-this, how can I help you? who needs sleep" 30-something body - and we are so lucky to have him among us. Sharing his "in the trenches" stories with his visionary wisdom - the man has a knack.

You captured his essence wonderfully...thank you! And your writing style reminds me a bit of Seth Godin and hey, his bald so ;->, ya know - you are in great company.

Funny. Not as in laughing at, maybe laughing with, myself. I almost didn't post this. I thought it might be too...odd. In fact, I emailed Chris this post privately. He's probably got a 1000 emails waiting for him. 2 hours later a nerf baseball bat hit me in my head and said "post it". And still, with a tinge of doubt, I posted it. I'm glad I did.

Still, it speaks that...I'd be hesitant to praise someone or I'd be hesitant for the reaction when I have no qualms about scorching someone/some company here in the blog...

Change is good. I'm liking it. It helps to have connections with folks like Chris and Zena, Carlos, Andrew and many others. Thanks, y'all.

Wow... Zane, that was pretty awesome. It made me think about a lot of people in my life who I appreciate, folks like my wife, my mother-in-law (I see the same connection between those two that you saw with your friend and his mom), and my friend and colleague Rami.

I don't think I could ever be like Rami in a lot of ways, and in some ways, we share a brain, though from opposite coasts. Even though we don't work together anymore, we are still in touch a lot through IM and video conf. He is steady and consistent, and we disagree frequently, but I know I'm a better person for knowing him.

Your assessment of Chris is right on - I too only read a portion of the links and info he posts (my brain just can't work through that much stuff), but the things I do read make me think. Whether I agree with it all or not, you're right that the thinking about it part is probably the most powerful piece of the social media experience.

    I love this book. It's true that I say this about every book I review here. And why shouldn't I? Why waste time reviewing a book I don't love. That being said...Why Employees Are Always a Bad Idea: (and other business diseases of the industrial age) is one of my favorite business books for a long time. It starts with the title. It's eye-catching, provocative, right? Mentally, it's a head-slap, positing a theorem inside your head then pounding it home with AlwayandBad to let you know you're not getting away; you're going to have your mind changed. Right now. As I kept looking at the title, tilting my head like a dog - one side to the other - I began to smile. I read a kindred spirit. Here's a rebel, a true disruptor, someone who's willing speak up, take a stand; I like that. I might not agree with what I'm about to read, but his title made me smile without being cloying or clever so I knew I was in for a good ride.

    I'm an avid reader, always have been. I've read a lot of business books and I’ve led a small business. I recommend you read Business Execution for Results: A Practical Guide for Leaders of Small to Mid-Sized Firms. It is a very, very good book, among the best, most usable business books I’ve read. As a writer, he does things that make the reading very pleasant, very inspiring, very engaging. Very good. He offers personal stories, anecdotes, little clips. They’re genuine, sincere, well-organized to capture your attention, engage you in the story that illustrates the next lesson. I found myself thinking...I can relate...I am relating....I see, feel, remember this personally. And Stephen’s writing is very crisp, very concise in taking you from these stories to the principle with each chapter...and as important to the steps you’re going to take to generate the results you want to see. No hitch in the reading flow. VERY nice.
