Yes, the insurance company status quo rocks. I learned recently about
something called the "loading fees" of insurance companies. That's how
much of every health-care dollar gets spent by insurance companies on
things other than the medical care—paperwork, marketing, profits, etc.
According to a University of Minnesota study, up to 47 percent of all
the money going into the health-insurance system is consumed in
"loading fees." Even good insurance companies spend close to 30 percent
on nonmedical stuff. Sweet. What's Not to Like. Reform? Why do we need healthcare reform? by Jonathan Alter at Newsweek.
Yeah. Sweet.
And this article shares more what there's more to love about about our current healthcare system.
And the healthcare industry loves their industry more than we do. That's why they're working hard to keep change at bay. And when they lack data, they instill fear. When they lack talking points, they make up talking points with meaningless debates about economic philosophies and ideologies, applying terms and labels that do not apply but invoke baseless fear and outrage.
Now's probably a good time to participate in this debate. Here's 5 ways you can.
