Drop this F-bomb in your next meeting:
I failed.
Watch the reactions of those in that meeting:
- Silence. And then, maybe:
- they'll tilt their heads at you like a puppy does trying to understand you.
- they'll turn away in horror.
- they'll look at you like you dropped to the floor and started speaking in tongues.
Then their conversation resumes. Their conversation. You're not included.
Why is that?
Forget sins and lesting. Let the first person who hasn't failed once already...today...tilt their heads first.
Failure is a part of business as it is a part of life. And ain't it great. Painful. Embarassing. Frustrating, too. But, failure is the opportunity to learn and grow, refine and resume, achieve and remain humble.
And the business cultures that allow, embrace, the F-Bomb of Business, failure, to be spoken are the cultures that learn and grow.
Here's some more thoughts on Failure from Joan Koerber-Walker, founder and President of CorePurpose. She's a guest on my radio show next week. You can listen here.
