I announced in May, 2010, the 52 - Week Employee Recognition Plan. This is the 25th week. The lesson this week is:
- Make it fun.
Why not?
Have you ever found a successful person or organization that lived by this rule:
- Make it miserable. Make it unbearable. Make it grim. Make it unpleasant.
I wanted to end the post there. But some readers may need details on how to define fun in a business setting.
Fun is learning.
Fun is exciting.
Fun is challenging. Fun is when you face the challenge with the knowledge you have the tools and resources to meet and beat that challenge.
Fun is when you know you will be recognized. Fun is when you recognize others.
Fun is when you laugh and then learn from your mistakes. Fun is when you share with others the story of your mistakes and what you learned from them.
And, that frees everyone to go forward with less fear and more fun. Less fear and more enthusiasm. Less fear and more ideas...and more solutions. More solutions mean more revenues, fewer costs, more cash-flow, more cash.
Fun means success. Fun means sustainable.
Make it fun.

You can start with any week of the 52 - Week Employee Recognition Plan and make that your first week.
You can take one of those weeks and turn it into a month or commit to an accelerated pace and complete 6 of the weeks in one month.
You can create your own week of employee recognition. Share that journey here. Share it in your blog or Twitter or Facebook.
But, do something to recognize your employees! They set your brand apart as your ultimate competitive edge.
And the more you recognize their achievements, the more achievements you'll see and they'll enjoy, along with your customers and and shareholders, partners and vendors.
