“Mother Nature’s a tinkerer instead of an engineer,” Eagleman says. “She doesn’t just invent something and check it off the list. Everything is layers on layers built on top of each other, and that provides tremendous robustness.” via www.newyorker.com
I haven't fully fleshed this out, yet, for business. But as I read it, I thought...
"Tinkering...and everything is layers on layers, Customer Service and IT and Finance and Employee Engagement and Strengths-Based and R&D and Marketing, built on top of each other...and that provides tremendous robustness."
Robustness = sustainability.
Sustainability = adaptability.
Adaptability = survivability.
The key is all the layers are built on top of the other layers. Not isolated from each other or in contact with only one other.
I guess I need to get in touch with all the other layers to make this a robust post. But, I think this is a good start.
